Kitchen Work Triangle Infograph

My favorite space to design in a home, hands down, is the kitchen. I love all the details and components that intricately have to go together to create a beautiful + functional space that will get used everyday of the year. Its the hub of the home that has to strategically be designed so the space flows and functions for cooking, prepping, and storing.

Ive been lucky lately to have the opportunity to work on quite a few local kitchen projects and each one is unique and different in their own way. From transitional to cottage to modern, all have their own interesting qualities to make them stand out.

Despite the aesthetic though, all kitchens should be designed with the Kitchen Work Triangle in mind. The effective work triangle includes 3 key parts the refrigerator, the oven, and the sink / dishwasher. All three elements should be within somewhat in a triangle shape and within unobstructed reach of each other to allow the most efficient food prep possible.

The other day this awesome + very helpful infograph came across my desk and I had to share. Keeping in mind the various kitchen layouts, the infograph shares some insight and ideas for how to best layout the kitchen. Check it out

I hope you were inspired and got some good ideas for your space. Whether in the midst of renovating a kitchen or planning a new kitchen in the future, all these layouts will hopefully help to understand how the space should best be configured. The work triangle is key!

What layout is your kitchen? Is your current kitchen laid out in a work triangle? If you could change one element in your kitchen, what would it be?
