DIY: Tic Tac Toe using Sharpie Neon Markers

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group and Sharpie, but no one told me what to create or what to write. All opinions are 100% mine! pmedia NeonSharpie http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO

I got my craft-on this past weekend and created something pretty fun

Let me take a step back first

Sharpie reached out to me a few weeks ago about trying out their new Neon markers. They come in an array of colors like green, blue, orange, yellow, and pink. If you know me, Im not really the crafty-type, but I thought it would be fun to create something different and outside-the-box. I wanted to challenge myself.

After picking up a few colors from the new Neon collection at Target, I turned to my son and asked him, What would you make?. First he said a checker board game. I was down with that. Then he said, How about Tic Tac Toe? Me Likey!!!

So we were off and creating

My husband had just cut a bunch of thin round wood pieces (using a branch from our yard), so those we had on hand. Other than the Neon Sharpie markers, all I had to pick up was the wood rectangular plaque that I found + purchased at Walmart for 97 cents. S-c-o-r-e!

These were the supplies I used:

Total cost: About $5

This quick-to-create project from start to finish took about 20 minutes and it was easy to create. My son helped me along the way

1. I started off by adding an X to 9 round wood pieces using the Neon green marker. Then I turned them over and added an O to the other side using the Neon blue marker.

2. Once the wood disks were done, it was time to create the Tic Tac Toe game board.

Using a pencil and ruler, I created the playing area with 9 equal (well kinda equal) squares towards one side, and then used the other side to write Tic Tac Toe.

Once the board was sketched out, I traced over the lines with the orange Neon Sharpie.

And that was it. Here is the result

As soon as all the pieces were finished, my kids grabbed it and started playing. It now sits on our dining table and the kids (as well as the Mister and I) ask to play every night. Love that! Lets bring more old school games back! Cheers to the classics!!

This was such an simple craft to make and since not being a crafty person (in my opinion), I think I did a pretty good job. What do you think?

As with all Sharpie products, there are a ton of things to do with the new Neon Collection. Check out more creative ideas on the Sharpie Facebook and Pinterest pages.
